Christian Bale’s new project is far from superhero world.

Bale will play Moses in Ridley Scott’s biblical epic Exodus, scheduled for release in December 2014. The film, scripted by Steven Zaillian [The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Moneyball], is an interpretation of the exodus of the Jews from Egypt led by Moses that is told in the Biblical book of Exodus.

20th Century Fox released today the first image of Bale as Moses. In the picture, we can see him on a horse with the statue of Rhamses being built in the background.

This film will also star Joel Edgerton [as Rhamses], Aaron Paul, Ben Kingsley, John Turturro and Sigourney Weaver.

Exodus, however, is not the only biblical film to be released in 2014. Darren Aronofsky’s Noah is set for release this spring. The cast for Aronofsky’s film include Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman and Anthony Hopkins.

What do you think of Bale’s new role?
