It was announced a few days ago that English actress Kate Winslet was going to name her newborn child and first son with husband Ned Rocknroll, “Bear Rocknroll”. Winslet, however, recently stated that her son will not carry her husband’s last name.
“We haven’t ever really had that conversation; [the child] was always going to have my name” Winslet told Glamour UK.
Winslet has two children from her previous marriages: Mia and Joe. Both children have “Winslet” as part of their names, so she considers “it would be weird if this baby didn’t. Of course we’re not going to call it Rocknroll. People might judge all they like, but I’m a f***ing grown-up”.
She also had some words for those who criticise her personal life: “No one has a right to comment on anyone’s life of the choices I do or don’t make. It’s very easy to be judgmental until you know someone’s truth. People have no idea at all. It baffles me, truly, that you can publicly treat a person like that. It’s not very nice… I’m really sorry to the nation’s press that I fell in love and got pregnant; I do apologise if you deem that irresponsible”.
Winslet is currently nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as Adele Wheeler on the film Labor Day, based on the novel of the same name by Joyce Maynard.
