It looks like Marvel villain fan favorite Loki’s army of followers on the internet may have finally gotten their wish to come true. According to Total Film, Marvel has announced Thor: The Dark World’s One-Shot, and it’s going to be called “All Hail The King”. Is that signal for a Loki-oriented special?
For those out of the loop, Marvel One-Shots are short films that are canon within the Marvel universe. Based on the events that transpired during the Thor sequel, the king of the title in question is probably going to be Loki, portrayed by British thespian Tom Hiddleston.
For those who have seen the film, (SPOILER ALERT), the God of Mischief did end up as king of Asgard at the close of The Dark World. When the film ended, everyone in Asgard assumed Thor’s trickster brother to be dead, killed in battle against the vicious Malekith the Accursed. As revealed much later, Loki faked his own death, stole his way back to Asgard, and somehow usurped the throne from his adoptive father, Odin. In the aftermath of everything, Loki wore both Odin’s face and Asgard’s crown, with the fate of the true Odin left up to the audience’s imagination.
The Loki twist certainly sets many things in motion to be revealed in the future. The only issue in the Loki short film theory, however, is this: how does Ben Kingsley fit in? The Iron Man 3 actor confirmed his participation in an upcoming Marvel project. Could he be the king in question?
All answers will be revealed or “Seeeekrits” as Marvel’s Ryan Penagos, other wise known as Agent M, says when the Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray scheduled to arrive at the end of February, hits stores.
