It has been announced that Christine McVie will return to Fleetwood Mac on a permanent basis.
The band’s publicist, Liz Rosenberg confirmed the news to Billboard, saying that McVie, “has indeed re-joined Fleetwood Mac and we are hoping to make an announcement about a possible tour for the full tilt Macsters some time in 2014.”
Although McVie hasn’t been a permanent member of the group for 16 years, the singer songwirter joined the band onstage, last year, in London.
She spoke the Guardian saying, “It was amazing, like I never left. I climbed back on there again and there they were, the same old face on stage.” The singer also added, “I like being with the band, the whole idea of playing music with them.”
Mick Fleetwood also spoke of the news at Uncle Willie K’s BBQ Blues Festival in Maui. The drummer said, ”This is the worst kept secret there is, but Christine McVie will be rejoining Fleetwood Mac.”
According to Digital Spy, “he revealed the news after Willie and Fleetwood played an acoustic version of McVie’s Rumours classic ‘Songbird’.”
Fleetwood Mac has already cancelled a series of dates in Australia and New Zealand after the bands bass player, and Christine’s former husband, John McVie was diagnosed with cancer.
Christine told The Guardian, “He’s having his treatment in LA right now, but they caught it really early so he should be up and running in a couple of months.”
