Hats off to the cast of Sherlock!
Martin Freeman (John Watson) said that he loved working with fellow actor and real-life partner, Amanda Abbington (Mary Watson nee Morstan).
Abbington joined the BBC cast as love interest Mary Morstan. That surname, however, was quickly discarded when the Morstan-Watson wedding came and went in the second episode of the most recent series.
What’s Sherlock without a few plot twists? Freeman and Abbington turned UK audiences’ heads when John discovered (thanks to Sherlock) that Mary was actually an undercover agent. The short of the long: she’s not who she says she is.
That’s only part of what makes this particular series so exciting.
In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Freeman said that it was very “enjoyable” to work with Abbington.
“I’ve done it a few times with Amanda before, but nothing as sustained as this,” he discussed, “She’s great. I love it. It made the day go even quicker. It made it even more enjoyable. We have a natural kind of rhythm and chemistry together that I love. I really appreciate that part of my day. It made it easier.”
Abbington and Freeman first met on the set of Men Only in 2000. From there it was only a matter of time before they started dating.
The third series of Sherlock has concluded in the UK and will premiere in the US on PBS Masterpiece Sunday, January 19 at 9:58pm EST.
