The cast of A+E’s reality show Duck Dynasty have been the centre of attention since family patriarch Phil Robertson compared homosexuality to bestiality in an interview with a magazine.
At this, One Direction’s Liam Payne wrote a tweet at Phil’s son, Willie, praising the Robertson’s family union: “Huge love to you/your family huge respect for your business prosperities and the family values you still all behold. big fan” read the tweet.
Payne was harshly criticized on social networks, leading him to set the matter straight on twitter last night: “Being a fan of someone’s show and the way they still hold a family together doesn’t mean I am ok with all they say”.
He also had some words for journalists who tend to twist stories: “Oh my God can someone literally not be a fan of a show without being labeled WTF I bought dinner the other day it made a news story”.
Phil Roberston was suspended from the show but was shortly reinstated after insistence from the fans.
Duck Dynasty is currently on its fifth season amidst controversy.
