Rashida Jones is set to reunite with her former The Office co-star Steve Carell for a new comedy pilot for TBS called Tribeca.
Jones is set to play Angie Tribeca in the pilot, who according to E! News is “an outspoken 10-year veteran of the LAPD’s EHCU (Really Heinous Crimes Unit). Described as a lone wolf, Angie isn’t happy when she’s told she has to work with a partner in the satirical look at a police procedural.”
The series, which was conceived by Carell and his wife Nancy, will be shot using the single camera technique and will also be written by the pair. According to TBS, Tribeca “explores an eccentric but brilliant group of people who investigate crime, reveal way too much personal information, and refuse to rest until justice has been served…sort of.”
Jones will leave hit Parks and Recreation on Jan 30th along with co-star Rob Lowe. The shows showrunner Mike Schur told The Hollywood Reporter that, “It’s been a slow build, and episode 13 is the gigantic, explosive farewell.”
Shur added, “It will have been set up for almost half a year. We didn’t want to have an episode 12 like,’Hey, I got a job offer. Let’s leave Pawnee,’ and suddenly they disappear. We want to give them a properly dramatic and formal sendoff.”
Production for Tribeca will begin in February or March in Los Angeles.
