Pan, the Warner Bros. origin story of Peter Pan, has found its Captain Hook.
Deadline is reporting that Garrett Hedlund has been offered the coveted role of the infamous villain in the Joe Wright directed film.
The 29 year old has been seen in a variety of roles throughout his career, from Disney’s TRON: Legacy to the adaptation of the Jack Kerouac novel On The Road, he can currently be seen in the Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis.
The script is being penned by Ice Age writer Jason Fuchs and will “follow a young orphan named Pan who is brought to Neverland and becomes a hero while leading a revolt against evil pirates.”
While the rest of the casting is yet to be revealed, it was said that Warner Bros. were in the process of holding open auditions to discover new talent for the title role of Peter Pan and that of his love interest, Tiger Lily. Hugh Jackman has also been rumoured to be in talks for the role of the pirate, Blackbeard.
Pan is expected to open June 16, 2015.
