It was announced this weekend that the first authorized Mother Teresa biopic titled I, Thirst is in the works.

According to the released statement, as reported by Deadline, Keir Pearson, best known for writing the screenplay for the 2004 film Hotel Rwanda as well as for the movie Chavez, will also pen the screenplay for the upcoming Mother Teresa film.

Also attached to this project will be Tony Krantz, known for his work on the television shows 24, Felicity and Sports Night.

In a statement, Krantz stated, “We couldn’t be more excited for this movie about a woman who stood for total commitment, faith, charity and love.”

Mother Teresa, who died at the age of 87 in 1997, is a much loved, yet controversial figure who has recently been placed on the path to sainthood in the Catholic church. She is best known for her work with the poor and for founding the Order of the Missionaries of Charity.
