Gamers everywhere are finally being given a proper date for the release of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Game director, Naoki Yoshida, announced the final release date to be April during a Letter from the Producer event.
Square Enix is also making standard and collector’s editions for the game, available for pre-order today. Those who pre-order the collector’s edition will have a chance to participate in Early Access to get the game starting April 11. They will also receive a mog cap and and Cait Sith doll minion.
The collector’s edition includes various physical and digital items. For $79.99, it includes the game, an exclusive box, an artbook known as The Art of Eorzea: A Realm Reimagined, the FFXIV Seventh Umbral Era movie disc, game soundtrack, an art card set, and a security token. The collector’s addition also adds a Fat Chocobo Mount, a baby bethmoth companion, a Helm of Light and a Wind-Up Moogle Minion to the items available in previous collector’s editions. It is sold exclusively through the Square Enix online store. The collector’s edition for digital-only perks is available through PlayStation Network for $59.99. The standard edition will be sold for $39.99.
PS4 owners can participate in a beta-test starting February 22. Owners of FFXIV for PS3 can transfer accounts to the PS4 for free starting April 11. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the PS4 version will run at 60 frames-per-second. However, they will not be able to access the PS3 version unless purchased separately.
