It’s been a busy couple of weeks for pop star Prince.

The singer has dropped a lawsuit filed against online fans who posted unauthorized videos from his concerts as far back as the 1980s.

The videos were posted on Facebook and other online forums.

The Guardian reported earlier this week that Prince sued a group of 22 internet users for $1 million (£605,000), demanding that the mediators of Facebook pages and fan sites that allowed for the free distribution of “bootleg” concert videos each pay the hefty amount.

Those in the claim were accused of “massive infringement and bootlegging of Prince’s material” that added “up to thousands of separate acts of infringement and bootlegging.”

Prince was subject to massive online criticism after he announced the lawsuit earlier this week, so after all videos were removed, the charges were dropped.

His lawyer elaborated on the decision to TMZ: “Because of the recent pressure, the bootleggers have now taken down the illegal downloads and are no longer engaging in piracy. We recognize the fans craving for as much material as possible but we’d prefer they get it from us directly than from third parties who are scalpers rather than real fans of our work.”

But the lawsuit was not the only thing on the pop star’s mind this week.

Prince also teased eager fans by posting a preview of his new song “PRETZELBODYLOGIC.”

The track is from his upcoming album Plectrum Electrum, set for release in the spring of this year.

As we previously reported, his “Hit and Run” tour begins on February 3 in London.
