American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez sets out to prove in her new music video that she still still has what it takes to be a music superstar, and that she is still just “Jenny from the Block.”
In the video for the third single off Jennifer Lopez’s forthcoming album “Same Girl,” she traveled back to the Bronx. Lopez told
Ryan Seacrest, “This was just something I was doing for the fans, it’s not a first single or anything like that. But the song is about getting back to your roots and remembering where you’re from and I think we captured that in the video too.”
Throughout the clip, J.Lo is seen making her way around her old neighborhood, riding the subway and happily interacting with locals.
In her recent appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Lopez revealed, “We did it very guerrilla-style, just me and the camera, and it turned out pretty cool.”
“It just reminded me of all those amazing moments of riding on that train back and forth to Manhattan and back to the Bronx.”
Lopez has seen universal praise recently for her return to Idol along with Keith Urban, and newcomer Harry Connick Jr. In the past year she also singed on as executive producer of the television series The Fosters, and is now at work on her eight album, to be released in the first half of this year.
