American Apparel Says Sexy Doesn’t Expire With New Lingerie Ad

Friday morning, American Apparel posted their new lingerie ad featuring 62-year-old model, Jacky O’Shaughnessy. The caption i read “Sexy has no expiration date,” proving that the popular clothing brand can inspire any age group. American Apparel has brought in mature models to break the young, thin, tall lingerie modeling standard.

This is not the first time O’Shaughnessy has modeled for American Apparel, she was scouted back in 2012; she also modeled their basics range before switching to their lingerie. In the ad, she is seen wearing the brand’s lacy bandeau-style underwear with her long, grey hair flowing around her shoulders.

Although this ad got plenty of supportive comments, there were also a good amount of comments expressing discomfort. It seems that not everyone is ready to see a mature model representing a provocative retailer.

We definitely hope to see more of this change in the future! A bit of a shake-up is always necessary and breaking away from the same old, same old is a step towards development. Hopefully, we will see more of the beautiful Jacky O’Shaughnessy.
