The Broncos’ brutal loss to the Seahawks was difficult for fans to watch, but that didn’t stop Americans from tuning in for the highlight of the game: Bruno Mars’ performance at the half-time show.

The proof is in the ratings, which totaled at more than 115.3 million viewers during the singer’s 14-minute performance that featured the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Nielsen Soundscan reports that more people watched the half-time show than the game itself, which raked in 111.5 million viewers.

The Huffington Post reported the new record, noting that Mars’ performance beat Madonna’s 14 million viewers in 2012 and Beyoncė’s 110.8 million in 2013.

Along with Mars’ record ratings, Super Bowl XLVIII is now the most-viewed event in U.S. television history.

Mars performed hits such as “Locked Out of Heaven”, “Treasure”, and “Runaway Baby” before the Red Hot Chili Peppers joined in to perform their 1991 song “Give It Away.”
